Be The Champion In The Industry
Start-ups
are generally viewed with skepticism and uncertainty. Though the risk-taking
ability of Indian consumers has fairly gone up and they are ready to take risk,
but the loyalty towards a particular brand has reduced in the bargain. People
are open to trying new things from new places. There are many start-ups that
have similar service offering and hence customers keep wandering from one
organization to the other.
Be vocal, be heard
For
startups in India, investors play a very important role
and are one of their key targets. To ensure they believe in the business, the
spokesperson needs to be positioned strongly. They need to see that the
business has a high re-call value from the customers, thus adding to the over-all
credibility. The investors also need to understand the business and media is
one of the key mediums to educating them, depending on the articles published
and stories written.
Right knowledge, right platform
But
being vocal does not always mean talking about one’s own business, but also
having an opinion to share with the industry. Be the champion, that talks about
your niche, the challenges faced, solutions derived and key studies; one can
take lessons from. This need not always be done using traditional media but one
could use new media, that is, digital platforms. It can be as simple as
creating a Facebook group and initiating discussions or creating a
dedicated group or forum.
True thought leadership
It
is always the best to be the first who enumerates the needs, predicts the
future and directs the course of the industry. This would in turn lead to the
organization becoming the thought leader in the space. If this is done
strategically and often, everything soon in the industry will start revolving around
the organization and the key competitors.
To
be the leader one needs to take the initiative and have an opinion.
